Kindergarten...

introduces young children to a more structured school environment and it also lays the groundwork for learning in later grades. Kindergarten also affects early behavioral and social development.

Kindergarten Offers...

  • All day, every day (M, T, W, Th, F).
  • Steady, brisk-paced curriculum with a strong emphasis placed on reading, writing, and math.
  • Children often work independently in large and small groups. (Teacher provides support when needed).
  • Letters, sounds, simple works and word families, sight words, and proper letter formation are taught. Student uses these skills to write sentences.
  • Students learn reading readiness skills and later progress to reading predictable text.
  • Math skills include: Counting to 100, counting by 1’s, 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s; number recognition to 30; patterns; graphing; addition, and subtraction to 10.
  • Students learn to write using some correctly spelled, some phonetically spelled words (sounded out), spaces between words, capitals and punctuation.
