Thanks so much to our parishioners and all those who came together in support of our new technology. We are truly blessed to be using new, reliable, state-of-the-art equipment.
St. Ann School uses classroom projection systems for united streaming to display computer content to the class. For example, we can quickly download digital video- on-demand and online teaching services from the Discovery Education website to reinforce the curriculum. Some students learn better seeing rather than hearing, and these short videos involving the curriculum can reinforce what the teacher is teaching.
We also have the software called Accelerated Reader which tests the student’s comprehension after reading a book from the library. Studies have shown that the more a student’s reading level and comprehension is improved, the better their writing and overall grades improve.
Accelerated Math is another program that we began implementing in the Fall of 2008. Accelerated Math content is built upon the set of core objectives and learning progressions that students need to achieve proficiency in mathematics. Accelerated Math provides ongoing feedback on students' daily practice, and helps the teachers differentiate instruction, addressing each student's individual needs. Students progress through grade-level libraries by mastering objectives. After a current objective is mastered, students continually move forward.
We invite you to take a peek at our new Media Center. Check with your students and see what their response is to our new technology equipment.
Computer Access and Internet Use Policy A new acceptable use policy has been adopted for staff, students and community members wishing to use the technology at St. Ann School.
